2. Analysis of Music Websites

Learning Comments:

This task made me look into things I found appealing and eye catching. This is making it more obvious to what type of website I want and how the genre of music that influences it. By doing this task, it made me pay more attention to how little detail can go a long way for the audience and it can shape how they view you and your music.

The things I liked were:
  • simple text
  • text that matches the genre of music
  • interesting background
  • pictures from social media
  • colours that compliment each other and do not clash
  • art being incorporated

3. Analysis of Digipaks

Learning Comments

Thing to consider including:
  • Artist's name(s)
  • Picture of the artist(s)
  • Props and setting relating to the album and/or artist(s)
  • Name of the album
  • Eye catching design
  • Content of who helped make it
  • Inspiration
By doing this task it came clear that for it to stand out it will need an interesting and unique design. I need to make sure text is visible and colours contrast together. All of this research will help me when it comes to creating my Digipak.

9. Lip Syncing

Learning comments:

The first video we done was just in one room with one camera angel and it didn't give us the experience of filming and acting outside with a variety of camera angles.

We have learnt how hard it is to lip sync. We had to really accentuate the words otherwise it looked like we were mumbling and it needed to be more clearer for the audience. One of the main reasons for us doing this task is for us to think about the advice we could possibly give the person that will be featured in our music video. The setting that we were in was also silent and this had a positive because when we played the music out loud, we were able to hear it very clearly, allowing us to make sure we were in time with the song. It was better for us working all together because it made it less tense and awkward and we need to consider this for out actor/actress. I would chose more songs with clearer words, because some of the songs in our raw footage were hard to understand and hard to mouth. Before the project, we would make sure we know what the person is most comfortable with, e.g. people around and setting.

The editing was difficult because we had various clips needing to be edited into each other. We had to download the songs and upload them, allowing us to override the sound of the clips and only allow the audience to hear the music.

1. History of Music Videos

Learning Comments:

By doing this task it has broadened my knowledge of how music videos have developed from something so simple into something so complex! What is important for me to bare in mind that it s all focused on how the audience sees things, meaning I will need to do deep analysis of what my target audience would love.

What I have noticed in music videos through the years is

  • use of one particular setting
  • use of one or 2 different camera shots or angle - commonly a long shot or
  • no/minimal narrative
What I should include in mine is
  • relevant narrative that s investing and possibly relating to the song or artist
  • variety in different shots
  • minimum of 2 settings
