Planning for photo on digipak

For the back of my digipak, i was the fabric we are using in the music video to be swirling or to be wrapped around each other. These are some phones of what kind of photos I want.

23. Branding

These are the different fonts which I am thinking about using.  These ones are my favourites because the first one looks like paint, which will link to all the art in the video. The second one is just like finger prints, making it very personal to the artist and I liked the 3rd one because it is similar to 'Fall Out Boy's logo:

Digipak: Photo Edits

I took a picture I had taken from UpFest and edited it. I went for having it in black and white and then cut around some shapes to revert back to the original colour. This was really interesting to do and is very eye catching. The limited splash of colour is bold and is exciting, which collaborates with the music video.

The Grime Scene

My favourite music genre is grime and rap. the music videos produced from grime and rap artists I think are very visualising and different to other music videos. I like how they're always with their gangs in their community. In particular, my favourite director and editor for music videos is Kaylum Dennis.

It is inspiring for me to see a young boy, similar to my age, working with artists that I love to create some of my favourite music videos, like Stormy, Chip and Section Boyz. All of these artists are from London and it is exciting for me to see how they've come up from the struggle of the slums to make great music and have a successful career.

Here are so clips of some stuff he has done with Section Boyz, Stormy and Paige Cakey. I love the camera flares, the correct use of slowing down and increasing the pace of the video. I like how there are also so many people in the video and they are all recognisable, if you know a bit about the artists.

Interesting graphics

I liked how they put the text to follow a certain object and then how the outline of somebody was turned into graphics. This is one of my favourite music videos because of the artists, the graphics used, the catchy beat and lyrics and the social cohesion within the gang.

Weather Forecast for third filming day

This is the weather for filming on Saturday. It isn't raining, which is good. We are planning to do all of the shots outside and on the beach done first, just incase it does start to rain and get too dark to film. We are filming on the pier, which is all inside so the weather will not affect our filming during this. I will be checking the weather tomorrow to double check.

Me and Ellie will be heading out earlier to get as many shots with her and then Mason and Leah will join us a few hours later so we can film with them both together. We have to do this because Mason is working in the morning and Ellie is busy in the evening. We have planned to film all Ellie in the beginning, then when Mason comes, do all of the shots with them together and then we can spend the evening just filming Mason.

Preparation for third filming day

These are the different things we are going to film Saturday in Weston-super-mare. On the other day when we were filming we weren't 100% prepared. This will help us clearly visualise everything we need to film, who needs to be in the frame and what props are needed for it.

Weather Forecast for second filming day

The weather for filming yesterday in Severn Beach wasn't practical but this was one of the best opportunities for us to film. We managed to shoot some shots but we will have to replay another date to possibly do them again because the weather was very dismal, meaning not everything was clear.

22. Ancillary Tasks Planning

I had the idea of there being photos of both actors looking directly at each other on the inside of the digipak. I thought this would look really intimate and would go in hand with the music video of them being in love. A lot of art is included in the video so I thought it would be relevant to include it on the digipak. I will being taking pictures of all of the art I am filming and some extra so I can go through and see which one is most fitting for the rest of the digipak and the music video. I wanted to have the artists name at the front at the top, a picture of the artist in the centre and the song title at the bottom. This design matches the poster design and this will be recognisable for the audience to identify. We are using a red cloth in the music video that randomly appears and this will signify the love they have together. I was thinking about having an image of the cloth swirling around or an image of both of our actors running around with it, which I would take myself on one of my filming days or I will come in the studio and take some photos there. I have noticed that ratings from newspapers, magazines, etc. are either on the front or the back. I wanted to add them on the spine, allowing me to have the front and back just about the artist.

This design matches the front cover of my digipak. I want a picture of my main actor that is different to the one on my digipak. This picture will be the most recognisable thing on the poster so I will experiment with many different things and see which one fits my genre of music, the artist and his look, the digipak and any other things. I will include the release date, ratings and any other information at the bottom because it is important that I still include it but it isn't the main thing to point out.

Learning Comment:

This task let me plan a basic template where I will place everything when I come round to actually making it. This is reassuring as I have planning that I need to take photos on filming days or in lesson time. I will also need to finalise which type of typography I will use, so then I can start creating it and putting everything together.

Weather Forecast for 1st filming day

This is the weather for the day we are thinking of filming. We will check closer to the date to see if it changes.

I checked the weather today, Wednesday, and it is showing to be quite cloudy and raining about mid-day so we will have to film inside scenes, like in the museum and Cabot Circus where there is shelter because we do not want the camera to get water damage.

it doesn't seam to be raining when we will film, so that will give us the opportunity to do some outside shots. This will enable us to do the majority of our narrative and performance recording.

Photo Shoot for Locations

Learning Comments:

When UpFest was on, I took photos and I have used these. some of the art may not be there but we will go the Bedminster to see if they are still there and are available to film in the music video. I went to the museum on the weekend and took some photos of the general setting and some of the things I may include in my video. This task has helped with preparation of our particular setting and whether they were suitable.

25. Filming and Editing Schedules

19. Fashion and Prop Planning

Learning Comments:

This task allowed me to explore the different fashions and the potential options for what both of our actors could wear. I had to think about the styles that are trending right now for both genders, what clothes would suit our actors and what clothes suit the genre of music. I used Pinterest and took the images of what I want them to wear. All the styles are similar and I have considered the time of year and which clothes would be appropriate.

21. Storyboards and Shot Lists

These is the original storyboard and shot list. This were our original ideas, which we could work from and alter. This will help us when we do our final storyboard because we will have made up the basis of it.

Learning Comments:

We re-done our storyboard and shot list from the original because of how brief it wad. This story board and shot list now allows us to follow which shots we are doing, where we are doing it and if there is anything in particular required to prepare from. This will make it easier for us on filming days because we will know exactly what we are filming. When we come to filming it, we will film everything but when it comes down to editing everything together, we may add or remove shots or move some about because the shots have to fit the song and the lyrics. We have planned to film more than is probably needed because it will give us reassurance that if some shots aren't what we need, we have others available to use. This with further prevent having to go out and film again, so we can use our time efficiently.
